The Viking is the result of many hours of sculpting using an oil based clay, Matt has captured the smallest details such as wrinkles and pores of the skin to bring this sculpture to life. 
 
Once the sculpture is complete a mould is made from silicone and then casts are made using Jesmonite, which is a water based resin, which is then be painted.
 
The Vikings have influenced people since their first coming to the land of opportunity to trade, raid and conquer.  Nobles were admonished for taking on the fashions of the Norse Pagans by the church, In 796 AD, the scholar and monk Alcuin of York wrote "Consider the dress, the way of wearing the hair... Look at your trimming of beard and hair, in which you have wished to resemble the pagans."
